• Submitted thesis on “Study of Hypercoagulable State in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) and Antiphospholipid Antibody(APS) Syndrome: Exploration of the Role of Platelets and Fibrinolytic System” in july 2008, under the guidance of Prof. N. • Submitted thesis on “A Comparison of Clinical Outcome of Two Pharmaco-invasive Strategy Post-Thrombolysis in STEMI: PCI Within 24 Hour Versus PCI Before Discharge” in December 2013, Under guidance of Prof R. K. Saran, Prof V. S. Narain, Prof S. K. Dwivedi, Dr Rishi Sethi, Dr Sharad Chandra, Dr Aniket Puri, Department of Cardiology, KGMU, Lucknow, India.

• A thesis "To Assess The Spectrum of Rheumatological Disorders in Cardiac OPD Patients" was done under my guidance during March-April 2015, in Department of Cardiology, Popular Hospital, Varanasi, U.P. India.

Work Experience & Academic

• Non DM Senior Resident in Cardiology for 3 years approximately, Post MD, from August 2009 to July 2011, in Department of Cardiology, IMS, BHU, Varanasi, India. This training includes outpatients and inpatients, all non-invasive procedures like ECG, Echocardiography, TMT and bedside clinics including ICCU management of inpatients. This also includes regular UG and PG teaching experiences including bedside clinical classes.
• Did 3 year DM, Cardiology course from KGMU, Lucknow, U.P., India. completed on 31st july 2014. KGMU is one of the best medical institute in the country, especially for cardiology, with enough exposure for invasive and non-invasive procedures in cardiology.
• During 3 years and 10 months post DM, i am working as Head of Department, Director, Cath-lab & Senior Interventional Cardiologist in Popular Hospital, Varanasi. I am doing all the procedures of interventional cardiology like Coronary angiography & angioplasty, temporary & permament pacing, Balloon valvuloplasties & peripheral interventions.
• Did about > 1500 radial angiography, 300 angioplasties, 70 permanent pacing with only one mortality (>99% survival). Most angioplasties were of Acute MI patients, including about 70 Primary PCI.
• Most of the coronary interventions were done trans-radially (Success rate > 99%). Popular Hospital is the only totally TRANS-RADIAL centre in Varanasi.
• Permanent Pacing were done mostly through Cephalic vein cut down (> 80% success rate). No infection reported till date.

Awards & Recognition

• Dr. Vikas Kumar being a renowned and experienced Cardiologist had grabbed several awards during his practice sessions. Recently, he had been awarded with the ‘Global Healthcare Excellence Award-2015’ for being the ‘Best Cardiologist of Eastern UP’ by Prime Time research Media.
• Apart from the above, he had also received the appreciation award during the ‘ACC Talent Hunt Examination 2013’ that is conducted during D.M Cardiology training tenure at KGMU, Lucknow, India.
• Alongside, he had earned the award of ‘Pratibha Samman-2000’ by Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthy Parishad in U.P. India.
• Owing to the awards and recognition, he had been delivering quality heart care treatments to the patients and serving them a new hope to live life again.

As Faculty

• Delivered a lecture on "Hypertension in Young Adults" to general practitioners (MBBS or MD) of the city (Varanasi) & around on 23rd August 2015 organised by "Asian Society of Cardiology"


• Participated as chairperson twice (2015, 2016) in "Annual Summit on Hypertension" conducted by "Indian College of Cardiology" and Endorsed by "American Society of Hypertension".


• Paticipated as Faculty in "Mid Term ISECON-2016": Conference of Indian Society of Electrocardiology.
